Hurley Pro Surfing Competition Storming the Shores of So Cal Next Month
August 26th, 2010 | Posted by Leah Hollar in SurfingThe 2010 Hurley Pro, the only ASP World tour event on the mainland of the U.S. is coming to southern California September 12-18. Surfers will compete for the world title at San Onofre State Beach-Lower Trestles, in San Clemente, with some changes to the usual plans. A new seeding format, the most progressive judging criteria in ASP history, and a roster of 32 surfers instead of 44 will make for even better competition. Kelly Slater, nine-time world champ, will be looking for his 10th title win and hopes to take the title away from South African Jordy Smith. While this year’s first-place check has yet to be determined, it’s sure to be big following the suit of last year’s $105,000 first place check. Fans can check out the action live on-line as cameras will stream the event here.
