Hurley Pro Surfing Competition Storming the Shores of So Cal Next Month

The 2010 Hurley Pro, the only ASP World tour event on the mainland of the U.S. is coming to southern California September 12-18. Surfers will compete for the world title at San Onofre State Beach-Lower Trestles, in San Clemente, with some changes to the usual plans. A new seeding format, the most progressive judging criteria in ASP history, and a roster of 32 surfers instead of 44 will make for even better competition. Kelly Slater, nine-time world champ, will be looking for his 10th title win and hopes to take the title away from South African Jordy Smith. While this year’s first-place check has yet to be determined, it’s sure to be big following the suit of last year’s $105,000 first place check. Fans can check out the action live on-line as cameras will stream the event here.
