Sports Date Of The Week: UFC 133
August 3rd, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in MMA,Sports Date of the Week
This Saturday night, the UFC is hosting an event in Philadelphia. The card, even though it has been plagued with injuries and fighters having to pull out for various reasons, will be a good one to watch.
Light heavyweight Rashad Evans will take on Tito Ortiz. This is the main event on the card, and what looks to be the biggest draw for the UFC. Ortiz, who is 36 years old, has been fighting in the UFC since 1997. Ortiz was set to be cut loose from the UFC if he lost his fight against Ryan Bader at UFC 132. A quick first-round submission that earned “Submission of the Night” honors, however, earned the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” another shot in the UFC.
Middleweights Vitor Belfort and Yoshihiro Akiyama will compete in what will most likely be a close, but entertaining battle. There will be three other fights on the main card on Pay-Per-View, as well as two free fights on the preliminary card that will air on Spike TV. The UFC is continuing to broadcast a round of preliminary fights on Facebook, also.
If you’re staying home to watch the fights, try this recipe we found for Buffalo Chicken Rolls.
