Sports Date Of The Week: Drive
September 14th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Movies,Sports Date of the WeekIn theaters Sept. 16, Drive makes the perfect date night movie. The movie features enough action, drama, and blood to please a male audience while the females can enjoy watching the swoon-worthy Ryan Gosling on screen.
Ryan Gosling’s character is a far cry from Noah in The Notebook. Gosling is a Hollywood stunt driver by day who drives a getaway car for heists at night. The driver falls in love with his neighbor Irene, played by Carey Mulligan, but things go awry when Irene’s husband Standard returns from prison. Gosling attempts to save Irene and her son from harm by attempting a heist to payoff Standard’s protection money, but things don’t go as planned.
The movie’s soundtrack, done by Cliff Martinez, adds to the 80′s action movie kitsch which was also incorporated into the film’s movie posters. Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn did an excellent job making Drive stand out from other movies. The cinematography and overall aesthetic of the film stands out from other Hollywood movies.
Grab your date and check it out!
