UFC Fighter Chael Sonnen Tested Positive For Steroids

Chael Sonnen did a lot of trash talking in the weeks leading up to his fight with Anderson Silva for the middleweight title in August. He was silenced after Silva submit him using an arm-bar in the third round, but now a report from the California State Athletic Commission will keep him quiet for even longer. According to the CSAC, Chael Sonnen tested positive for a “natural steroid” before his loss in Oakland to Silva. Most likely, Sonnen will be suspended for a year and charged a $2500 fine.
A championship rematch between Silva and Sonnen was in the works for January or February, but now it looks like that fight won’t happen. With no rematch, Sonnen will lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in endorsements and fight money. One source reported it could be close to $1 million if his endorsement income drops significantly.
