Sports Date Of The Week: “The U” Documentary

We are about two weeks away from the start of the college football season. And in honor of it being right around the corner our Sports Date of the Week is college football themed!

A documentary about the University of Miami football program was released on DVD yesterday. It’s titled “The U” and was directed by Billy Corben, a Miami native and University of Miami alum.

The film chronicles the economic, racial and cultural setting in Miami that led to the growth and success of the Hurricane program. The football program would go on to win four national titles between 1983 – 1991.

The documentary first aired as part of ESPN’s 30 for 30 series.

Our suggestion is picking it up as a gift for your man or renting it at your local video spot. To really get in the mood for football season, put together a mini tailgate – throw some delicious foods on the grill and prepare your favorite football snacks.
