Shocking Sex Scandal At Penn State
November 7th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Football
Two top officials at Penn State charged with allegations they covered up a child sex abuse scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky vacated their positions yesterday.
Sandusky was arrested amidst allegations he sexually abused eight boys between 1994 and 2009. Sandusky retired in 1999 but is said to have used his foundation, The Second Mile, to gain access to the school’s facilities where the sexual misconduct allegedly occurred.
The two top officials who resigned were charged after a grand jury investigation . Penn State coach Joe Paterno, who last week became the coach with the most wins in Division I football history, wasn’t implicated in any wrongdoing. He testified in the grand jury hearing that he was informed in 2002 of an incident an assistant coach witnessed in the locker room and the question the mainstream media all seems to be asking is why he didn’t take the allegations to the police.
