Bills Player Accused Of Mocking 9/11 Victims In Victory Dance

Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson will likely be fined for his touchdown celebration dance that has generated a bit of controversy from Jets fans. Johnson mocked Jets player Plaxico Burress by pretending to shoot himself in the leg, then appeared to soar like a Jet before falling to the ground. The move was mocking Santonio Holmes’ “Flight Boys” airplane wings, but was not well received by some Jets players.
At least one Jets player has spoken out about the dance. Sione Pouha said, “Us being from New York, we like to hold ourselves to integrity, and that airplane thing, in my opinion, was kind of a dagger a little bit. Considering the circumstances that we just celebrated — not celebrated, but in remembrance of what we just had on Sept 11. Unprofessional, but that’s just my opinion.”
Johnson could have scored a 47-yard touchdown at the end of the game for a win, but dropped the pass. The Jets won 28-24. Johnson supposedly called Burress after the game and apologized for his antics. Burress said he recognizes he is a young player who made a mistake.
