New NBA Video Game Honors Legends With Cover Art
July 22nd, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Basketball,Technology | No CommentsThe cover art for the NBA 2K12 video game was just released, and they chose to go back in time to find the stars that will be featured. Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Larry Bird appear on the covers, but Michael Jordan is the primary cover choice. The Magic Johnson and Larry Bird covers will be released in limited quantities.
Kobe Bryant was the last current NBA player to be featured on the game’s cover, for NBA 2K10. The fact that they opted out of featuring someone like MVP Derrick Rose or Dirk Nowitzki is like a sad reminder to NBA fans that the action in the game may be the only basketball they get to see this year.

MLB Wants To Be The Talk Of The ‘Digital Water Cooler’
March 31st, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Baseball,Technology | No CommentsThe people who market the MLB are trying to attract the attention of younger fans, by implementing some new media outlets online. MLB marketer Tim Brosnan told the New York Times, “We want to be part of the discussion at the digital water cooler, day in and day out, with a younger demo than we’ve targeted in advertising before.”
Firstly, they launched MLBAlwaysEpic.com which is a mircosite that allows fans to watch videos like a journey inside Brian Wilson‘s beard. They also introduced the MLB Fan Cave. After searching through thousands of applications for the MLB Dream Job, two winners were picked to watch every game of the 2011 MLB season in the Fan Cave. The winners will blog, tweet, Facebook, and star in a web series about their experiences. The Fan Cave is located in an exclusive location in Greenwich Village in New York City, and will play host to fan activities from live music and parties to visits by MLB players. The Fan Cave is not much of a cave however, bur rather a fish tank with large glass windows that allow passersby to view all the actions of the cave’s dwellers. The winners of the contest, Mike O’Hara and Ryan Wagner, will be able to watch the game on any of the 15 TV sets in the cave which was designed and created with the help of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s Paul DiMeo.
Stay tuned all season long for the latest MLB insights from these two.
New App Released By Tiger Woods Today Helps Golfers Perfect Their Swing
March 24th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Golf,Technology | No CommentsFor only $9.99 you can improve your swing and golf just like Tiger Woods!
Well, some people may not want that right now. If we’re talking the Tiger Woods’ swing of now, it may not seem like such a good investment. Tiger Woods’ swing pre-divorce and drama? Might be more worth it. The technology behind the Tiger Woods: My Swing application that was released today, which is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad2, allows users to record their swing and compare it to Tiger’s.
If you’re unsure about trying it out, this might convince you: Woods is donating proceeds from the sales of the app to his Tiger Woods Foundation which promotes youth education.

The video, starring Serena Williams, was leaked by the other star of the video. Actress Rileah Vanderbilt posted a link to the video on her Twitter, resulting in the video game company releasing the following statement, “As part of the process for creating marketing campaigns to support our titles, we pursue a variety of creative avenues. This video is not part of the title’s final marketing campaign and its distribution was unauthorized.”
Even if they did not authorize its release, the rejected commercial probably caught the attention of many a gamer on the internet.

March 23rd, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Football,Technology | 1 Comment
ESPN’s SportsNation is allowing fans to vote on who they want to see grace the cover of EA Sports’ Madden ’12 video game. Lots of players have been tweeting about the alleged “Madden Curse” including Aaron Rodgers, Superbowl MVP. Rodgers tweeted, “Lots of interesting madden curse tweets #isitreal? We’ll see if Madden Curse is real or not…” Some people say Drew Brees broke the curse last year, so Rodgers should be okay.
People are having lots of fun with it, too. Darren Rovell tweeted this idea for the cover. Like he says, it puts a jinx on no one.
Dwyane Wade is voting for Michael Vick:
