Ryan Sheckler Hosts Skate For A Cause
May 26th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Charity,Skateboarding | No CommentsSkateboarding pro Ryan Sheckler will be hosting a charity event this Saturday benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Skate for a Cause being put on by the Sheckler Foundation will feature skateboarding competitions between pro skaters and a carnival featuring the usual fun games like the ring toss, dunk tank and a putting contest.
Entrance to the event is free but VIP passes are available for purchase. For more information, click here.

Tony Hawk Adds Author To List Of Accomplishments
May 25th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Books,Skateboarding | No CommentsPro skateboarder Tony Hawk is writing a book titled “How Did I Get Here?: The Ascent of an Unlikely CEO” which will detail how he built his empire that includes his own line of skateboards, clothing, video games and a charitable foundation.
Tony is writing the book with his sister Pat who is VP and COO of Tony Hawk, Inc. and a member of the board of The Tony Hawk Foundation.
The book description is:
The book tells the amazing story of how this 40-something father of four has managed to go from street boarder to CEO, by connecting with his audience and staying true to his values. Filled with Tony’s typical modesty and humor, he tells readers the secrets behind his lasting appeal.
Tony will be at the BookExpo America at the Javits Center in New York City on Thursday to discuss the book.
Athlete Sighting: David Beckham

Soccer stud David Beckham was spotted at the indoor skate park, the Skatelab in Simi Valley with his kids on Wednesday afternoon.
Maybe we will have some future professional skateboarders to look out for?
Tony Hawk, Ryan Sheckler and Shawn Johnson In Beijing!

The grand opening of the new skate park is scheduled for May 15th. The festivities include a ribbon cutting ceremony, demonstrations with top action sports athletes, including Ryan Sheckler and a clinic that is open to the public.
Also present for the opening, Olympic gymnasts and winner of Dancing with the Stars, Shawn Johnson!

Skateboarding and Basketball Come Together

The Sacramento Kings basketball team is hosting a “Skate Night” at Arco Arena on Saturday, April 10th.
Kings fans have the opportunity to meet professional skateboarders Ryan Sheckler, Brandon Biebel, Paul Rodriguez (P-Rod), Terry Kennedy and Lauren Perkins and legendary skaters Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi and Steve Caballero.
The Skater Night ticket package includes an exclusive pregame meet and greet with the pros, choice of a Biebel skate deck by GIRL or a Maloof Money Cup hat by Neff and two tickets ($40.50 per ticket value) to the Kings-Mavericks game for just $49.
Skater Night is a celebration of the Maloof Money Cup, an event created by Kings co-owners Joe and Gavin Maloof. Now entering its third year with an expansion to New York City, the 2010 Maloof Money Cup, co-presented by Vans, has been dubbed the “world’s greatest skateboarding event.” The Maloof Money Cup has featured the most diverse group of skaters ever assembled to compete on one-of-a-kind courses designed by the skaters themselves.
