Athlete Sighting: Mark Sanchez

September 1st, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Athlete Sighting,Football,Music | No Comments

Not only is New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez a huge fan of Broadway, he apparently is a Justin Bieber fan as well. This guy continues to surprise us. We were totally down with his appreciation for The Great White Way, but Justin Bieber? This one is hard to swallow. He’s definitely going to hear some trash talk on the football field about this one. Yikes.

Earlier this year, Mark sang “I’m Every Woman” with Tina Fey and Justin on SNL, so maybe the two are tight now and he was supporting his buddy. Or perhaps Mark really wanted to see Usher and/or Boyz II Men perform, who made surprise appearances at the Madison Square Garden show. We’re still trying to find an excuse that is acceptable for Mark to be there.

Who would have thought Lil Wayne would be a tennis fan? Well he is, and he wrote a letter from prison to Sports Illustrated making some predictions on the US Open, particularly regarding Rafael Nadal.  He said, “I’m a huge Nadal fan. I’m definitely rooting for him to get the Grand Slam and win the U.S. Open.” For the women, he is rooting for Kim Clijisters to win the title. Lil Wayne became a tennis fan after he tried playing and found it to be “unbelievably difficult.” He said also in the letter that Andre Agassi was “like a popstar” when he was a kid.

Lil Wayne is serving a year-long prison sentence for gun possession.
