Tim Howard: Hot Or Not?
January 5th, 2012 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Hot or Not,Soccer | No CommentsTim Howard may not have been very impressed with his 90-yard goal, but it surely caught our attention. His shirtless frame has caught our attention before, from ESPN’s Body Issue to a USA Soccer spread in Interview magazine so we thought we’d take a moment to help you get to know more about the man behind the goal.
Howard was born in New Jersey. He currently plays for Everton in the English Premier League but can be found in the goal box playing for the US national team also.
The 6’3″ goalie began his soccer career a month before graduating high school, playing for the North Jersey Imperials. That same year, he made his MLS debut playing for the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. In 2001, he became the youngest player to win the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award.
In the middle of the 2003 season, he was traded to Manchester United where he replaced Fabien Barthez as the first-choice goalie. In 2006, he signed with Everton. More recently, in 2010, Howard was the starting goalkeeper in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. His kick to Landon Donovan who made a game-winning goal led the US team into the round of 16.
Howard hasn’t only stuck to soccer throughout his life. In 2009, he was drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters.
He was awarded the MLS Humanitarian of the Year award in 2001 for his work with children with Tourrette’s syndrome. He was diagnosed with Tourrette’s in middle school.
Howard is taken. He and his wife, Laura, have two children and live in Tennessee during the off-season.
So what do you think ladies? Hot or not?

Hot Or Not: Chris Paul
December 15th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Basketball,Hot or Not | No CommentsChris Paul has been the hot topic in the NBA this past week, with word spreading last week that a trade the Los Angeles Lakers were trying to make with the New Orleans Hornets in order to obtain Paul was shot down by commissioner David Stern. After the Lakers were denied the trade, the Los Angeles Clippers were reportedly in negotiations to make a deal for Paul. Finally, official word came last night that Paul would be joining Blake Griffin on the court. The Clippers traded Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and a first-round draft pick acquired from Minnesota for Paul.
Chris Paul is considered one of the top point guards in the NBA. He was drafted 4th overall to the New Orleans Hornets in 2005. In 2006 he was named Rookie of the Year, and has been an All-Star four times, and won a gold medal in the Olympics with the U.S. national basketball team.
Paul, who is 26 years old, grew up in North Carolina. Paul and his brother, two years his senior, grew up playing sports and working summers at the service station their grandfather owned. A day after Paul signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Wake Forest, his grandfather was found dead at age 61. He had been beaten and robbed by a group of teenagers. Five days later, Paul scored 61 points in honor of his grandfather at his high school’s season opener.
Paul went on to Wake Forest where he broke freshmen school records for free throws, three-point percentage, assists and steals. After being drafted to the Hornets, the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina did not allow him to play a full season. The team played only three games in New Orleans Arena. They were relocated and played most games in Oklahoma City. In the 2007-2008 season, Paul ended the season leading the league in assists and steals. He finished second in MVP voting behind Kobe Bryant.
Paul got married in September of this year, to Jada Crawley whom he met while at Wake Forest. They had been dating since 2003 and had a son together in May of 2009. Paul’s brother works as his personal manager. His nickname, CP3, comes from not only his initials and jersey number but family tradition. His father was always called CP1, his brother CP2, and he CP3.
So, what do you ladies think of Chris Paul? Hot or not?

Evan Lysacek: Hot Or Not?
December 8th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Hot or Not,Olympics | 4 CommentsOlympic gold medal-winning figure skater Evan Lysacek, seen above skating at the Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink for a Today Show performance this morning, has not skated competitively since winning a gold medal at the 2010 Olympics. He did, however, announce in September that he is preparing to make a comeback for the 2014 Olympics.
Lysacek became the first American to win the Olympic title in men’s singles since Brian Boitano did so in 1988. Evan is also the 2009 World champion, and the 2007 & 2008 U.S. national champion.
Lysacek was born in Illinois, is of Italian and Czech descent, and is a Greek Orthodox Christian. He began skating at the age of eight. He originally wanted to play hockey, so his mother enrolled him in figure skating lessons to learn how to skate. Soon after, he was competing as a figure skater. After graduating high school in 2003, Lysacek moved to Los Angeles. He trains at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.
Lysacek appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2010. He and dancing partner Anna Trebunskaya placed second to Nicole Sherzinger and Derek Hough.
Lysacek is involved in many charities, from Figure Skating in Harlem to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
It was rumored Lysacek was dating Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin, however the two have been spotted together as of late and they never confirmed nor denied the rumor

Chael Sonnen: Hot Or Not?
December 1st, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Hot or Not,MMA | No CommentsChael Sonnen hosted the World MMA Awards last night in Las Vegas. He was chosen as the host because of his charismatic yet controversial personality and attitude. He’s someone who’s been in MMA awhile and is probably not going anywhere soon, so you should probably get to know him.
Sonnen is 34 years old. He was born in West Linn, Oregon and attended the University of Oregon where he was an NCAA Division I All-American wrestler. He began his MMA career at the age of 19. His second fight in the sport was against Strikeforce Middleweight contender Jason “Mayhem” Miller. Sonnen went 6-0 in his first six fights. He made his UFC debut in 2005, but lost. After going 1-2 in the UFC, he was released. He then fought for the WEC organization, until the dissolution of the WEC’s middleweight division brought him back to the UFC. In 2010, Sonnen found himself fighting Anderson Silva for the UFC Middleweight Championship, and losing after being submit in the fifth round. He is often heard dissing the Brazilian fighter in interviews.
Sonnen has been in some trouble: both for testing positive for a banned substance in the UFC, and money laundering.
Still, Sonnen is currently ranked as the #2 middleweight in the world.
So what do you guys think about Chael Sonnen? Hot or not?

Urijah Faber: Hot Or Not?
November 17th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Hot or Not,MMA | No CommentsUrijah Faber is fighting this weekend near his hometown in San Jose at UFC 139 so we thought we would profile the “California Kid” for this week’s hot or not.
Faber, a bantamweight, became a UFC fighter after the WEC and UFC merged last year. For those who are not MMA fans, you may recognize Faber from his appearance in K-Swiss’ ad campaign featuring Kenny Powers. Faber is also sponsored by Form Athletics and Amp Energy.
Faber is 32 years old and has accomplished a lot in his MMA career: he held onto the WEC featherweight champion title for nearly two years, and is regarded as the #3 bantamweight in the world. Faber was born in Isla Vista, an area of Santa Barbara mostly populated by UCSB students. He grew up in Sacramento, and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in human development.
He is known for his aggressive takedowns and submissions and energy in the octagon. He may only be 5’6″ but he is one tough guy: he broke his hand during a fight once and continued fighting, resorting to using elbows and kicks.
So, what do you guys think of Urijah Faber? Hot or not? Voice your opinion in the comments!

Andrew Luck: Hot Or Not?
November 3rd, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Football,Hot or Not | No CommentsThe Heisman Trophy will be handed out in a little over a month, and Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is proving his worth even after being picked as the preseason favorite.
Luck especially drew attention to himself after Stanford’s 56-48 triple overtime win against USC in Los Angeles last week. In that game alone, Luck threw for 330 yards with 3 touchdowns. Overall this season, he’s thrown for 2,218 yards with 23 touchdowns.
Luck was the runner-up for the Heisman last year, and was projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, but chose to stay at Stanford to complete his degree. Luck majors in architectural design and engineering at Stanford, was born in Washington, D.C., and would tower over you at 6’4″.
His father was a quarterback for the Houston Oilers before he became the general manager of the World League of American Football. That position meant Andrew got to spend some of his early childhood in London, England, and Germany before the family settled down in Houston, Texas. In high school, Andrew not only excelled on the field but in the classroom: he was co-valedictorian of his graduating class. He chose to attend Stanford after being recruited by head coach Jim Harbaugh
Luck has won many awards and set season records in NCAA football from being named the Orange Bowl MVP to holding the highest completion percentage in the Pac-12 single season records.
So, what do you think ladies? Andrew Luck…hot or not?

C.J. Wilson: Hot Or Not?
October 27th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Baseball,Hot or Not | 1 CommentC.J. Wilson is the starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers who are now 3-2 in the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The All-Star pitcher, who is only 30 years old, was born in Newport Beach, Calif. He played baseball at Santa Ana Junior College and was named the MVP of the Orange Empire Conference. He went on to play baseball at Loyola Marymount University, where he majored in screenwriting, before being drafted by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2001 MLB draft.
He played in the minor leagues before moving up to the majors in 2005. Later on in his rookie season, the Rangers placed him in the bullpen full-time. In 2006, he made a name for himself as the team’s top left-handed pitcher, proving to be especially an especially tough opponent against lefties. In 2010, Wilson set a club record with the most consecutive innings without a home run against the Oakland A’s.
Wilson considers himself “straight edge,” which means he does not drink, do drugs, or engage in promiscuous sex. He has the words “Straight Edge” tattooed on his torso, and Japanese characters that read “Poison Free” and “XXX” stitched on his glove, a symbol of his straight edge lifestyle.
Wilson enjoys racing racecars in his free time, and has said he wants to pursue a career as a professional racer after his baseball career. He has his own foundation, C.J. Wilson’s Children’s Charity, which reaches out to local children through fun, family oriented events. “Raising money is not the only goal, I also want to increase compassion and service awareness in the current generation. Instead of catering to the ‘fancy’ folks, we show kids ranging from 12-25 that they really can make a difference. By the time they’re mature and successful adults, they’ll have helped countless people and causes because they see the good side of giving back at a young age,” Wilson says on his website.
We’re pretty sure C.J. is single, too! So what do you think? C.J. Wilson…hot or not?

Albert Pujols: Hot Or Not?
October 20th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Baseball,Hot or Not | 2 CommentsAlbert Pujols is one of the top players in the MLB. This year, he helped his team, the St. Louis Cardinals, reach the World Series. This year is not the first World Series Pujols has made it to: the Cardinals won the title back in 2006.
Pujols (full name Jose Alberto Pujols Alcantara) was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. He and his family immigrated to the U.S. in 1996. A year after graduating high school, Pujols was drafted to the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the 1999 MLB draft. Pujols was assigned to a minor league team in Kansas City. In 2001, he moved up to the major leagues. During his rookie season, he was named the National League Rookie of the Year and played in the All-Star game. Pujols won his first World Series against the Tigers in 2006. That same year, he earned the Golden Glove award.
Pujols is married, with four children. His wife’s daughter from a previous relationship, Isabella, was born with Down syndrome. Pujols and his wife started the Pujols Family Foundation, a non-profit that promotes awareness of Down syndrome and aids families affected by it. The foundation also aids the poor in the Dominican Republic and supports people with disabilities and/or life-threatening illnesses.
The Cardinals won the first game of the Series last night against the Texas Rangers. Pujols has a chance at another title year.
