If you thought the bizarre food-related antics from golf fans have ended, you were wrong. Another strange incident involving Tiger Woods occurred during the Chevron World Challenge, and this video captures it well.

Just when fans usually yell “Get in the hole!” somebody in the crowd yelled “mashed potatoes.” It happened on the 18th hole, and thanks to some research by Mentality Magazine, it’s not the first mashed potato chant in the sport.

It happened to Tiger once in 2010 at the PGA Championship in Wisconsin, and once to Dustin Johnson at the Ryder Cup that same year. This year, it has happened two other times: to Ricky Fowler and again to Woods.

This is pretty hilarious. We’re looking forward to catching the next “mashed potato” shout-out.

Woods has hosted the challenge yearly for his foundation for the past five years. He donated $1.2 million to his foundation after the win. He moved up in the rankings from No. 52 to No. 21. Check out some of the highlights and his winning birdie below:

The endorsement is said to give Woods an endorsement for his bag, something he hasn’t had since AT&T dropped him a couple years ago.

Woods is currently leading in the Australian Open, which puts him in position to possibly win the full-field tournament. It would be his first win in two years.

The Tiger Woods Hot Dog Thrower Blames Ryan Gosling Movie

October 13th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Golf,Movies | No Comments

We told you last week about the man who threw a hot dog at Tiger Woods during the Frys.com Open. Well, there’s a new development in the story.

The man offered up an odd explanation for why he did such a bizarre thing. “I threw the hot dog toward Tiger Woods because I was inspired by the movie ‘Drive,’” he said to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. “As soon as the movie ended, I thought to myself, ‘I have to do something courageous and epic. I have to throw a hot dog on the green in front of Tiger.’”

We saw the movie, and just to clarify…there are not any scenes involving hot dogs.

Tiger Woods Disses Boston Celtics

A reporter at CSNNE.com asked Tiger Woods how he felt about the NBA lockout. Born and raised in Southern California, Woods is a Laker fan. So, naturally, he took the opportunity to take a dig at the Boston Celtics, saying,

“Yeah, of course I’m bummed. I think anybody who is an NBA fan is certainly bummed. I know that probably one person who is happy is probably Doc Rivers. I mean, with the age of his team, it’s nice for them to only play half a season. It’s true. It’s a fact, come on.”

Woods probably wanted to get back at Rajon Rondo for his Halloween costume last year.

Tiger Woods Attacked By Flying Hot Dog

October 9th, 2011 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Golf | 2 Comments

Golfer Tiger Woods got quite a surprise today during the final round of the Frys.com Open in San Martin, California. While attempting a putt, a male spectator screamed Tiger’s name and threw a hot dog at the golfer. The 31-year-old man, whose name was not released, was immediately tackled by event security and arrested. He was escorted off the property and charged with disturbing the peace, a misdemeanor. A tournament official said the man appeared to have been drinking.

Tiger brushed off the incident and had this to say, “I looked up and the hot dog was in the air. [The fan] wanted to be in the news. I guess he is now.” Another golfer in Tiger’s group, Arjun Atwal gave this account, “The hot dog flew across Tiger’s [putting] line and onto my line. The bun kind of fell at his feet. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.”
