Outrageous Menu Items for Western Michigan Fans
March 23rd, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Baseball,Food | 1 CommentWestern Michigan Whitecap baseball fans
fans were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite, most outrageous ballpark foods.
After their success with the Fifth Third Burger which included 5/3 (1.66) lbs of beef with lettuce, tomato, salsa, sour cream, chili, nacho cheese and Fritos on an eight-inch sesame seed bun, last season, they’ve decided to add another crazy item to the menu.
The team solicited ideas back in January, whittled the list down to 10 finalists, and opened the voting to fans in February.
23,000 fans voted winning item that will appear on the menu for this season is:
- The Declaration of Indgestion – half-pound foot-long hot dog covered in a Philly cheese steak (steak, cheese, peppers and onions) and served on a gigantic sub roll
FYI, the Fifth Third Burger has over 4,800 calories, nearly 300 grams of fat, 744 milligrams of cholesterol and more than 10,000 milligrams of sodium. Wow, those sound deadly.
McDonald’s Signs Michelle Wie to Two-Year Deal
March 22nd, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Endorsement Deals,Food,Golf | 1 Comment
Fast food giant McDonald’s has signed golfer Michelle Wie to a two-year endorsement deal.
The 20-year-old LPGA player shot a commercial for McDonald’s last week in California that will debut in April. Wie will make an appearance at the McDonald’s convention in Orlando next month. She also will be the face of a campaign backing the launch of McDonald’s smoothies in May.
“We were looking for an Asian-American personality to appeal to that segment, and Michelle has strong appeal there and great crossover appeal,” said John Lewicki, McDonald’s senior director of alliance marketing. “She’d already been doing work for Ronald McDonald charities in Hawaii, so it just seemed like a great fit.”
The McDonald’s deal is the second major endorsement that Wie has signed in the last year under new management company IMG. In February, Kia signed Wie to a deal that included a logo on her golf bag, and the Korean carmaker also took title sponsorship for a new tournament at La Costa Resort.
This is the first time McDonald’s has used a golfer in their TV advertising since tapping Greg Norman a decade ago.
John Daly Pizza
March 19th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Food,Golf | No Comments
John Daly recently lost over 100 pounds after undergoing gastric band surgery but in an ironic twist, the golfer is now peddling pizza. Not exactly the type of food that comes to mind when we think about losing weight!
John Daly Pizza Program is working in conjunction with Perky’s Foodservice Concepts and the pizza will be available at the golfer’s favorite places: golf courses, bowling alleys, truck stops, casinos and bars.
“My pizza is a 350-yard drive down the middle!” said Daly. “The quality and taste of my pizza will exceed your expectations, and it all starts with the finest ingredients available. Grip It and Eat It!”
