Iranian Soccer Star’s Mistress Hung In Tehran For Murder

December 2nd, 2010 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Crime,Soccer | No Comments

Nasser Mohammad Khani, a soccer star from Iran, had a “temporary marriage” arrangement with his wife, Laleh Saharkhizan, and “temporary wife” Shahla Jahed. It is legal in Iran for men to have up to four wives under temporary marriage arrangements while the woman may only have one husband. Men are allowed these temporary marriage arrangements for an agreed upon period of time and a fee. This scenario set the stage for the murder of the wife of Nasser Mohammad Khani.

Khani’s mistress, Shahla Jahed murdered Khani’s wife back in 2002. She had initially denied playing a part in the brutal stabbing but later confessed. Jahed was sentenced to death in 2004. Yesterday, she was hung in prison in Tehran. The victim’s son pulled the chair Shahla Jahed was standing on to end her life. Khani escaped adultery charges, but did receive 74 lashes for supposedly smoking opium with his mistress.

We reported back in September about the arrest of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. after an alleged domestic dispute. Now, a Las Vegas judge has issued a restraining order against him to stay away from his former girlfriend and the couple’s two sons. Prosecutors argued that he did in fact assault his girlfriend and threaten to harm his children if they called 911 back in September. At a hearing on Tuesday, the Judge issued the restraining order along with an order to pay $31,000 bail within the week.

The boxer is now facing 8 charges, 4 of which are felonies. If convicted of all charges, he could be looking at 34 years in prison. He is due to appear back in court on January 24th.

Cristiano Wins Libel Suit

November 10th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Crime,Hotties,Soccer | 1 Comment

Soccer stud Cristiano Ronaldo just scored big. The Real Madrid striker just won a libel suit against the British newspaper, The Daily Telegraph.

Back in July 2008, The Daily Telegraph reported that upon arriving in Los Angeles to attend a sports award ceremony Cristiano, who was on crutches at the time, “headed straight” for a trendy nightclub. The story said the athlete cast his crutches aside and danced with the models into the night while being served “10,000 pounds worth of Cristal champagne”.

Cristiano’s lawyer, Allan Dunlavy, argued in London’s High Court that the story was completely fabricated and caused him significant embarrassment and distress. In turn, the Daily Telegraph accepted the allegations were false and should never have been published. It agreed to pay Cristiano a substantial undisclosed damages as well as legal costs, the Press Association reported.

His lawyer said “…while he did attend the nightclub in question, he did not drink any alcohol at all whilst there, nor at any time whilst in Los Angeles. He does not, as a rule, drink alcohol because he takes his health, fitness and recovery from injury very seriously.”Nor did he put his crutches down to take to the dance floor despite the risk to his injured ankle.”

Congrats on the victory Cristiano!

What onlookers at game 3 of the ALCS at Yankee Stadium thought was just a drunk guy acting up turned out to be a crazed Cameron Diaz fan who wanted to get his hands on A-Rod. Grim LeRogue (he changed his name in order to sell a 700-page book he wrote) ran onto the field at the top of the fifth inning attempting to reach A-rod before being tackled by security. Police found a picture of A-Rod with his face crossed out and a drawn-in gun to his head with the words “You gotta go, buddy” in his pocket. The crazy Diaz fan was rambling the entire time he was in custody and is currently undergoing a pyschiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital.

Retired NFL Linebacker Junior Seau Says He Wasn’t Trying To Commit Suicide

October 19th, 2010 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Crime,Football | 2 Comments

Junior Seau was a star linebacker at USC who was then drafted to the San Diego Chargers in 1990 and led the team to the Super Bowl in 1994. He played his last season with the New England Patriots. Seau has been back in the media’s attention, but not for good reasons. Seau was arrested after allegations made by his live-in girlfriend regarding domestic violence, and just hours later crashed his Escalade off a cliff in Oceanside. While media headlines have jumped to all sorts of conclusions, Seau has made a point to express that he wasn’t trying to commit suicide, and officers involved say drugs and/or alcohol were not a factor. Seau supposedly fell asleep at the wheel, after posting bail and being released from jail around 3:30 a.m. then heading out to meet his assistant at about 9 a.m. Seau suffered only minor injuries, but was taken to the hospital to be treated for a concussion and minor cuts and bruises. The accident is still under investigation, and the blood test results that will determine if drugs or alcohol played a role will be available in six days.

IMG Owner Sued For Betting On His Own Clients

October 14th, 2010 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Crime,Golf,Tennis | No Comments

IMG is one of the biggest sports management companies in the world, with clients like Tiger Woods and Roger Federer on their roster. The company has just been hit with a huge lawsuit, filed in L.A. Superior Court, which accuses IMG’s owner Theodore Forstmann of betting on his own clients. But the case goes deeper than that, with allegations Forstmann used inside information to wager bets on important sporting events including the 2006 French Open final match that Federer lost to Rafael Nadal. The company sueing IMG is Agate Printing, Inc., who claims they made millions on lost bets on Forstmann’s behalf. Agate is sueing because they claim IMG breached a contract in which they agreed to give printing business to them.

The suit also says Forstmann bet against his own client, Tiger Woods, and spoke poorly of his lifestyle decisions and even used racial slurs when referring to the golfer. Theodore Forstmann’s rep, however, is claiming all such claims are false and that Agate Printing is just looking to make a few bucks off the billionaire.
