It’s a well known fact that most men love boxing. Why not surprise the man in your life (or the man you want to be in your life!) with a date he’ll love? HBO pay-per-view is offering a match-up of two of the best boxers out there right now. Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr., six-time World Champion, is boxing Shane “Sugar” Mosley, the current WBA welterweight champion in Las Vegas. With the two being considered two of the top three boxers regardless of weight, (Manny Pacquiao is in the mix, too.) the match-up has generated a lot of hype for not being a title bout.

The fight is scheduled to air at 6 p.m. PT, and you can either stay in to watch it, or head out to one of the 250 movie theaters across the nation that are showing the fight.

‘nPLAY – A Childhood Obesity Foundation Formed By Athletes

‘nPLAY is a coalition of elite athletes from eight different sports, led by Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce, whose goal is to raise funds to fight children’s obesity. ‘nPLAY’s primary focus is to financially support physical education and physical activity programs in low income areas which statistically suffer the highest rates of childhood obesity in the United States.

The athletes behind the cause are Paul Pierce, Jennie Finch, Grant Hill, Taylor Knox, Summer Sanders, Johnny Weir, Shannon Miller, Jerry Stackhouse, Jay Fiedler, Evander Hollyfield, Kenny Anderson, Gabe Kling, Bo Kimble and Sam Madison.

‘nPLAY has partnered with Cuties to auction off two Cuties embroidered figure skates from the “Ice Dreams” skating spectacular on April 1, 2010 in Bensenville, IL. The skates are autographed by Olympian and world-class skaters like Johnny Weir, Rachael Flatt, Dorothy Hamill, Melissa Gregory, Keauna McLaughlin, Rockne Brubaker, Alexe Gilles and Jordan Moeller.

Wladimir Klitschko and Hayden Panettiere Attend Movie Premiere

Boxer Wladimir Klitschko and his actress girlfriend Hayden Panettiere were spotted at the premiere of the new movie baseball film, The Perfect Game at the Grove in Los Angeles.

The Perfect Game is a sports flick based on the true story about a group of boys from Monterrey, Mexico who become the first non-U.S. team to win the Little League World Series.. The movie opens in theaters on April 16th.

Vote For Athletes For Time Magazine’s 2010 Time 100 Poll

Time Magazine is asking readers to rank the Top 100 most influential people in the world for 2010.

Some notable athletes competing for the 100 spots: Lindsey Vonn, Tiger Woods, Apolo Ohno, Manny Pacquiao, Bode Miller, Drew Brees, Roger Federer, Kim Clijsters, Danica Patrick, Serena Williams, Alex Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry.

New Subway Ad Features Athletes

The sandwich chain Subway has debuted a new commercial featuring several top athletes.

Some of the athletes featured in the ad include Olympians Nastia Liukin and Michael Phelps, Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin, female boxer Laila Ali and Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia.

Wladimir Klitschko and Hayden Panettiere Protest Dolphin Hunt in Japan

World champion boxer Wladimir Klitschko and his actress girlfriend Hayden Panettiere were protesting the annual dolphin hunt in Taiji, a fishing village in southwestern Japan over the weekend.

Hayden Panettiere Ringside For Boyfriends Boxing Match

Heroes actress, Hayden Panettiere flew across the Atlantic Ocean to Dusseldorf, Germany to see her boyfriend, boxer Wladimir Klitschko compete in the World Heavyweight Championships last weekend.

Here’s what she had to say about dating an athlete:

“I’ve never had an athlete as a boyfriend before, and it’s an exciting experience. I think it’s awesome that he’s so athletic, but I’m most fascinated with his intelligence. He’s unbelievably clever.”

Hayden proved to be a good luck charm for the boxer as Wladimir scored a knockout victory on Saturday. It was her first time ringside at one of his bouts.

Fun fact about these two: Hayden is 5’1″ and Wladimir is 6’6″ – that’s a huge height difference!

Athlete Sighting: Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was spotted Thursday night at Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles in on Gower St. and Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Floyd is set to take on Sugar Shane Mosley on May 1st at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
