Athlete Sighting: A Shirtless Landon Donovan

Landon Donovan came off the field shirtless last night after the Galaxy’s 2-1 win against the New York Red Bulls. The Red Bulls were without defender Rafa Marquez who earned a red card on Sunday for hitting Donovan and provoking a fight afterwards.

In the 73rd minute of last night’s game, the Galaxy were awarded a penalty kick. Donovan successfully converted the kick, giving the Galaxy their 2-1 lead. As a result, Donovan became the all-time leading playoff scorer in the MLS with 18 playoff goals.

The Galaxy will play Real Salt Lake on Sunday at 6 pm PST in Carson.

Lamar Odom Comforts Sister-In-Law Kim

Kim and Khloe Kardashian traveled to Australia with Khloe’s locked out hubby Lamar Odom for the launch of their Kardashian Kollection handbags yesterday. The event, held at Hugo’s in Sydney, was Kim’s first red carpet event since her divorce from Kris Humphries.

Kim looked sad and upset at the event and afterwards at a party with former Spice Girl Mel B. She was spotted for the first time without her wedding ring on when leaving LAX. Khloe’s husband Lamar comforted her at the event, giving her a hug and shielding her from unwanted questions from the crowds.

Athlete Sighting: Hope Solo

U.S. Women’s soccer goalie Hope Solo stepped out in West Hollywood last night, and was spotted leaving Madeo’s restaurant with some friends.

Solo performed a samba during round 7 of Dancing with the Stars with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy this week. The pair got the same score as David Arquette and Kym Johnson who were sent home after being on the losing side of the team dance.

Athlete Sighting: Manny Pacquiao

Boxer Manny Pacquiao was hanging out in Hollywood on earlier this week. Manny attended the AllSaints Spitalfields launch party for ‘The Capsule Not For Sale’ T-Shirt Collection held at The Music Box on Monday night.

The Filipino congressmanis set to fight Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time on November 12th in Las Vegas.

“I have never been so motivated as I am for this fight,” Manny told reporters yesterday before sparring session with his trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. “This is kind of a special fight, the most important fight in my boxing career, because I want this fight to be the answer to all the doubts that have been raised.”

Athletes At GQ’s Gentlemen’s Ball

Two big time New York athletes came out for the GQ Gentlemen’s Ball in New York City last night, supporting GQ’s philanthropic initiative, The Gentlemen’s Fund. Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees (pictured above) and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks (pictured below) looked stylish at the 4th annual event held at The Edison Ballroom. The private fundraising event benefits four charities fighting causes “essential to men” including Oceana, UNICEF, the Mark Wahlberg Foundation and the Patt Tillman Foundation.

Athlete Sighting: David Beckham

Los Angeles Galaxy player David Beckham was spotted leaving Los Angeles store Samy’s Cameras on Wednesday afternoon following some shopping with his son, Brooklyn.

David’s team, the LA Galaxy will be heading South-East Asia and Australia for a tour of friendly matches. It was announced today that the team will play in Jakarta, Indonesia on NOvember 30th. The club is currently in discussions to travel to Brazil and Argentina in 2012.

Athlete Sighting: Maria Sharapova

Before the start of the BNP Paribas WTA Championship in Istanbul, tennis star Maria Sharapova took the time to support her fiance. Sharapova caught an Anadolu Efes game yesterday, the team her fiance Sasha Vujacic signed a one-year deal with in July.

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit the eastern part of Turkey yesterday. Vujacic and Sharapova were fine, as Istanbul is located in the northwestern part of the country. Vujacic said via Facebook,

“We won our game last night but our good spirits were soon shattered with the news of the 7.2 earthquake in southeast Turkey.. It’s moments like these that make one realize that nothing should be taken for granted because it could be gone in any moment.. Those affected are in my prayers..”

New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams also signed a deal with a Turkish team. Williams signed with the other Istanbul-based team, Beskitas. He announced via Twitter that he is OK.

Athlete Sighting: Amanda Beard

Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard celebrated her 30th birthday at Vanity in the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas this weekend.

The seven-time Olympic medalist celebrated the occassion with a bottle of Veuve Cliquot, which she shared with friends. The entire crowd at the club sang her “Happy Birthday” and she danced to tunes by DJ Shift.

Athlete Sighting: Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong competed in the XTERRA World Championship in Kapalua on Maui over the weekend. The cyclist was in the top 5 for the biking portion of the triathlon, but fell behind during the running portion.

Michael Weiss of Vienna, Austria took home the title after finishing in 2 hours and 27 minutes. Lance Armstrong finished 23rd overall, finishing in 2 hours, 36 minutes and 59 seconds. In the women’s division, Lesley Paterson of San Diego, CA took home the title. She finished in 2 hours, 45 minutes and 59 seconds.
