Lakers Interested In Harvard’s Jeremy Lin

According to Dave McMenamin from ESPNLA.com, the Lakers are close to offering a contract to undrafted Harvard guard Jeremy Lin. Lin gained some attention in the Dallas Maverick’s Summer League in Vegas this summer, particularly in a match-up against #1 rookie John Wall in which things mostly went in Lin’s favor. Supposedly, if Lin is to sign with the Lakers, he would serve as a back-up to Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. This raises questions about what would happen with Shannon Brown on the team.

A California native, Lin graduated from Palo Alto High School where he earned a 4.2 GPA before he attended Harvard after no Divisin I scholarship offers came in the mail. With a resume that includes editor of the school newspaper and a degree in Economics, it’s a wonder that Lin had the time to practice and excel in basketball. Lin would make for an interesting new addition to the NBA, with his parents being from Taiwan, he would be the only Asian-American currently playing in the NBA.

Shannon shouldn’t have opted out. Lin could be a good pickup. Fits in the triangle and will cost a lot less than Shannon. i look for the Lakers to have 3 guys at the pay minimum next year
