July 22nd, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Basketball | No CommentsWe told you that Turkish basketball team Besiktas has had its eye on Kobe Bryant since the lockout officially began. Now, the LA Times is reporting on a new development involving Kobe going to Turkey. According to the LA Times, Beskitas Coach Ergin Ataman made an offer to Kobe Bryant and the team is waiting to hear back from Bryant’s representatives.
Ataman told the LA Times, “We made our offer to Kobe and now we are waiting for their comments about the situation. But we didn’t talk about details. I think they are thinking now about our offer, and I think in the beginning of August, the first week of August, our president [Yildirim Demiroren] will be in the United States for Deron Williams’ press conference and I think that they will meet to sign in USA with Kobe.”
New Jersey Nets player Deron Williams signed the team a week ago. Williams agreed to a deal that will pay him about $350,000 a month and $5 million overall.
The Turkish League starts in October.

July 22nd, 2011 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Basketball | 2 Comments
Check out this video from the guys over at Funny or Die featuring a Kobe Bryant impersonator. Pretty funny clip. We love the theory that the arenas are too cold, too many players with the letter “D”, what he’s doing in the off-season and his new Kobe faces. Hilarious stuff. We could watch their videos all day long. Here is the latest Black Mamba spoof:

They also released this video that we missed a couple weeks ago, a spoof on the NBA Playoff commercials:

Lewis Hamilton: Hot Or Not?
July 21st, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Formula One,Hot or Not | No CommentsFormula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton has been racing since he was only 13. According to a Sports Illustrated article written by Alexander Wolff, Hamilton approached McLaren team principal Ron Dennis at the age of 10 and told him, “I want to race for you one day … I want to race for McLaren.” Three years later, they signed him to their Young Driver Support Programme. He currently races for McLaren-Mercedes Benz. In 2008, he signed a five-year multi-million dollar deal to stay with them until the end of the 2012 season. Later that year, he went on to become the Formula One World Champion.
Hamilton, who is 26 years old, was born in Hertfordshire, England. The son of parents who emigrated from Grenada to the UK in the 1950s, Hamilton’s passion for racing came after his father bought him a radio-controlled car that he raced. At the age of 6, he got his first go-kart. His father worked three jobs at some points in order to remain supportive of his son’s racing.
Hamilton has broken many records in Formula One. He became the youngest driver to lead the World Championship at the 2007 Spanish Grand Prix, he held the most wins and points in his debut season, and he was also the first driver of black heritage to compete in Formula One.
Hamilton began dating pop star Nicole Sherzinger in 2007, the two split briefly in 2010, but are back together. Sherzinger denied rumors the pair were engaged. Which means…there’s still hope for you ladies who think he’s hot! Plus, Lewis can rock a Hugo Boss suit like it’s no one’s business. So what do you think?

Tiger Woods Breaks Up With His Caddie
July 20th, 2011 | Posted by Leah Hollar in Golf | 1 Comment
Who will hold the umbrella for him now?
Tiger Woods may be a little jealous of the time his caddie is spending with other golfers.
Woods announced on his website today that he and long-time caddie Steve Williams have gone their separate ways. The statement on the website read simply, “I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it’s time for a change. Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future.”
Williams worked with Woods as his caddie for 13 years, and stuck by his side during all of Woods’ personal drama, most recent injuries and past wins.
Williams released the following statement in response to the separation on his website, saying, “Following the completion of the AT&T National I am no longer caddying for Tiger after he informed me that he needed to make a change. After 13 years of loyal service needless to say this came as a shock. Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger’s scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time. I have had the opportunity to work of late for Australian Adam Scott and will now caddy for him on a permanent basis. Having started my caddying career with Australian great Peter Thompson and working for Greg Norman in the 80′s I am excited about the future working for another Australian.”
Tiger Woods has not named a replacement.
