Scottie Pippen’s Wife Joins Cast Of Real Housewives Of Miami

September 30th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Basketball,Couples,TV | 2 Comments

Sources are saying that Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen is not too pleased with his wife, Larsa Pippen joining the cast of Bravo’s new show, The Real Housewives of Miami.

A friend of Scottie’s said ”As everyone knows, Scottie is a very private guy — especially about his personal life. … It took a lot of convincing and cajoling to get Scottie to get on board this project. But Larsa really wanted to do it, so he finally gave in.”

But Larsa won’t be the only Housewife with an NBA connection, also casted in the reality show is former L.A. Lakers and Miami Heat player Glen Rice’s ex-wife Christy.

We don’t blame Scottie for being hesitant especially if he’s seen the show… But it could be worse, at least she didn’t join the cast of VH1′s Basketball Wives!

The Real Housewives of Miami will premiere in November on Bravo.

NBA Issues New Dress Code… For Coaches

September 30th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Basketball,Fashion | 4 Comments

So the NBA head office has decided to implement a new dress code but this one isn’t directed at the players… it’s for the coaching staff!

Coaches must wear collared shirts during games, mock turtlenecks under their suit jackets are no longer acceptable.

The new dress code guideline has already been dubbed the “Van Gundy Rule” after Orlando Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy who is known as one of the league’s most casual coaches.

“I want them to at least name the rule after me,” Stan said. “Somebody has their Bird rights. Larry Bird got that rule named after him. I want it to be the Van Gundy Rule.”

Another coach has been vocal about his dislike of the new rule, Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, “I don’t like that. I really like Stan’s style. I thought Stan really set the bar for the dress code. I think he should stay with that. I think it’s nice.”

Check out the spot below featuring Miami Heat star LeBron James and rapper/record producer Dr. Dre for his new Power Beats headphones. Also featured in the commercial is comedian Affion Crockett. The spot is a little long in our opinion but pretty funny. We especially like all the Laker jabs that Affion delivers to LeBron.

He has a tattoo of the words “Just Enough Education to Perform”, the title of an album by his favorite band, the Stereophonics.

The King Is Dead Portrait

September 30th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Basketball | No Comments

Cleveland artist Oliver Barrett has created a portrait of LeBron James just in time for Halloween! The image is of a half skeleton LeBron. Pretty creepy looking if you ask us!

Oliver says on his site “I’m not mad that Lebron James left Cleveland, I’m mad at HOW he did it. Quitting on his time in the playoffs, throwing Cleveland under the bus with decision on ESPN, and then joining his rivals instead of trying to beat them. He was supposed to be one of the best, in the conversation with Jordan and Magic. Instead he joined up with someone else’s team. The King is Dead.”

You can order prints here. This Cleveland wound is going to take a LONG time to heal…

Tampa Bay Rays Give Away 20,000 Tickets

September 30th, 2010 | Posted by Queen of Sports in Baseball | No Comments

Tampa Bay Ray fans were lined up outside Tropicana Field early Wednesday afternoon to take advantage of the Rays 20,000 ticket giveaway for Wednesday night’s game.

Fans waited in line Wednesday afternoon experiencing drastic weather changes including extreme heat and rain.

“I used to come to the games a lot back before the team got good,” said fan Manny Alvarez. “Unfortunately, the economy tanked. I’d like to go to the games, but I haven’t been able to set the money aside based on finances. This was really nice of the club. [It] shows they really care about the community. [And it] looks like there’s going to be a nice crowd here tonight.”

All 20,000 tickets were given away well before the game got underway. This action by the team was a result of comments made by players Evan Longoria and David Price earlier this week.

Unfortunately the Ray lost to the Baltimore Orioles 0 – 2.
