Arthur Ashe Kids Day Kicked Off US Open

Arthur Ashe Kids Day kicked off the US Open with interactive events for children, music, celebrities and athletes in attendance. One of the main sponsors of Arthur Ashe kids day, along with Mercedes Benz, is the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to “utilize the power of sport to address social challenges through a global program of sports-related community development initiatives.”  With 46 sports legends serving as the foundation’s ambassadors, many were in attendance for Arthur Ashe Kids Day, including Tony Hawk, tennis great Martina Navratilova, NFL star Marcus Allen and US Open wheelchair champion Esther Vergeer. Tony Hawk spoke to around 200 children about his inspirational experiences in the sport of skateboarding, and free tennis clinics were held along with other games and face painting for the kids. The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, and David Archuleta performed and tennis greats Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, and Kim Clijisters played for fun for the children to watch.

Queen Of Sports Fantasy Football Guide, Part 1

So, this fantasy football thing is all the rage right now. Your boyfriend, father, brother are all busy signing up for leagues, researching players and setting up their draft strategy. We gave a breakdown of how fantasy football works a couple weeks ago and now we are bringing you our Queen Of Sports Guide to Fantasy Football but we draft our players a little differently. We like to form the hottest team of football players.

Tom Brady (New England Patriots) – this is a no brainer. We think Tom Brady is so sexy plus he’s an awesome player, so drafting him is a win-win. Tom’s stats: 6’4″ and 225 lbs. Married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

Matt Leinart (Arizona Cardinals) – the USC alum and former Hollywood nightlife staple is a definite hottie but he’s been struggling on the field. He was supposed to be a shoe-in to start this season after Kurt Warner’s retirement but that’s come into questions in the last week. Matt’s stats: 6’5″ and 232 lbs. He and fellow USC athlete Brynn Cameron dated while he was in college but split after he turned pro, the couple have a son together. He has been linked to a few Hollywood socialites including Paris Hilton.

Mark Sanchez (New York Jets) – another USC alum, Mark is Mr. New York. He dates Meadow Soprano and loves Broadway theatre so much he was a presenter at the Tony Awards this year. Mark started last season as a rookie and expectations are high for his sophomore season. Mark’s stats: 6’2″ and 225 lbs. He’s single ladies!

Wide Receivers

Miles Austin (Dallas Cowboys) – we love Miles’ blue eyes, so pretty! The 26-year-old is ranked in the top 10 of NFL wide receivers and his popularity among the ladies has grown since he’s been linked to a certain reality TV star. Miles’ stats: 6’2″ and 215 lbs. Currently dating Kim Kardashian.

Chad Ochocinco (Cincinnati Bengals) – one of our favorite things about Chad is his long, lean athletic build, plus he’s always well groomed! Not sure how his play will be affected by the addition of new teammate and fellow VH1 reality star Terrell Owens, but we know he’ll be looking good on the field! Chad’s stats: 6’1″ and 192 lbs. Dating “Basketball Wife” Evelyn Lozada.

David Anderson (Houston Texans) – is originally from Westlake Village, California. We like it when he grows his hair out a little bit like in the picture above. We also like that David has a sense of humor, after scoring a touchdown in 2008, he did the Conan O’Brien string dance to celebrate, pretty funny! David’s stats: 5’10″ and 193 lbs and he’s single.

Wes Welker (New England Patriots) – This guy is such a cutie! The 29-year-old football player is a mid-western boy from Oklahoma. We like his scruffy look! Wes’ stats: 5’9″ and 185 lbs.

DeSean Jackson (Philadelphia Eagles) – Even though he’s a bit on the young side, we think DeSean is cute, we love his smile! The Long Beach native went to Cal where he wanted to pursue a degree in social welfare but put those plans on hold when he turned pro. Looking good DeSean! DeSean’s stats: 5’10″ and 175 lbs.

Major Gaffe By Russian Goalie!

Wow, check out this video. Russian goalie Sergei Ryzhikov messed up big time when he tried to chase down an approaching ball. Never know which way it’s going to bounce! Sergei looked pretty upset afterwards… The game ended in a tie, so at least he didn’t quite lose the game for his team.

Shaq Returns To The Silver Screen In Adam Sandler Flick

Boston Celtic center Shaquille O’Neal is making a return to the Silver Screen. With epic films like Kazaam and Scary Movie 4 under his belt, the basketball giant will be making a cameo in the upcoming Adam Sandler flick “Jack & Jill.”The good news? He’ll be playing himself, so really, no acting skills required for this one.

A little more about the film, Adam plays twins and one of them is a girl. The cast also includes Katie Holmes and Al Pacino. Not sure if we’ll be rushing to the theatre to see this one…

Jay Cutler’s New Girl?

Sources are revealing that Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was seen cuddling with the Laguna Beach and Hills reality television actress Kristin Cavallari. Witnesses say they saw the couple “kissing and acting all in love” at the Chicago lounge Angels and Kings.

Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez and his rumored girlfriend Cameron Diaz were spotted having a romantic dinner at The Lioin in New York City last night. The couple was celebrating the actress’ 38th birthday. Although the couple was coy and left the restaurant separately, they later met up at A-Rod’s NYC bachelor pad.

It was announced yesterday that head & shoulders has insured Troy Polamalu’s hair for $1 million! They took out the high priced insurance policy because the company recognizes the value of Troy’s extremely full and thick Samoan locks, so together with Watkins Syndicate at Lloyd’s of London, they’ve created the first ever insurance policy to protect his iconic mane for the entire NFL season.

“head & shoulders has gone above and beyond this year by insuring my Samoan locks for a cool $1 million. This reinforces that my full and thick hair is unstoppable,” says Troy Polamalu, who has been a spokesperson for the company for two years.

Troy’s hair is so renowned that he has not cut it in over seven years, making his hair so ridiculously full and thick that end to end it spans 100 football fields.

Cavaliers Host 25th Annual Youth Fund Golf Classic

The 25th Annual Cavaliers Youth Fund Golf Classic was held yesterday at the Westfield Group Country Club in Westfield, Ohio. The event has raised more than $7 million since 1986.

This year, 200 golfers participated in the tournament. Celebrity golfers included: Cavs GM Chris Grant, head coach Byron Scott, current Cavs players Jamario Moon, Christian Eyenga, Joey Graham, Danny Green, Ryan Hollins, Samardo Samuels and Ramon Sessions.

Proceeds from the event go toward the Cavaliers Youth Fund (CYF), a fund of the McCormick Foundation, which supports programs designed to benefit young people in the areas of education, recreation, employment and life skills with a particular emphasis on programs aimed toward at-risk youth. Since the fund’s beginning in 1993, more than $20 million has been granted through CYF to local non-profit organizations.The McCormick Foundation matches all funds raised at fifty cents on the dollar, increasing the amount available to grant worthwhile agencies.

The festivities of the day included food on the courses and a cocktail reception catered by Outback Steakhouse. A silent auction featuring sports memorabilia and live auction of experiential packages also contributed to the fundraising efforts.

The Saints Want Derek Fisher!

Sources are reporting that the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the New Orleans Saints have requested that Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher be in their locker room on opening day because they think that Fish holds the key to back-to-back championships.

TMZ says that Derek “has been asked by the Saints to address the team before their home opener in N.O. on September 9.” The team also wants Derek to talk about what it takes to lock down consecutive championships “as he did with the Lakers.”

Apparently the phone calls from coaches and staff worked because Fish has agreed to be at the Superdome for the Saints first game! We wonder what kind of speech Fish has planned, fingers crossed that the video ends up on YouTube!
